The Preliminary Feasibility Study is a low budget investigatory document largely based on test work grades, recoveries and assumed data for the proposed project. The objective is to establish an initial appraisal of the technical and financial viability of a proposed project looking at possible processing options with sufficient accuracy for the client to justify proceeding to a full feasibility study. PSE provides a formal analysis of the predicted technical, economic and financial viability of a project and estimates cost to a precision of +/- 30%.

Following an optimistic preliminary feasibility study, more accurate design criteria are established in Full Feasibility studies to update the accuracy of cost estimates. In a definitive study PSE achieves an accuracy range of about +/-10 to 15% by investigating the technical, economic and financial viability of the project to a type 2 estimate designation.
